Decorations and Painting
Decorations
- Students can decorate their rooms (e.g., pictures, posters).
- Avoid putting holes in walls.
- Students are not permitted to paint their rooms.
- Damages to walls will be assessed at move-out.
- Window Banner Policy:
- No items may be hung on the outside of any window, including banners, flags, or athletic equipment.
- Items visible from the outside must comply with the University Speech and Expression Policy.
Painting
- Students may not paint their rooms or apartments.
- Requests for painting must be made through the Maintenance Connection system and assessed by Facilities staff.
- Students are responsible for painting costs if the damage is due to vandalism or misuse.
- Electric lights must not be decorated with combustible materials unless flame proofed. Decorations should not obstruct exits or fire suppression equipment.
- Live Christmas trees are prohibited; artificial trees must comply with safety regulations, including being flameproof and secured against falling.
- No candles or open flames are allowed in residential spaces.
