Vacancy Filling Process

• Students will be notified if a drop or switch occurs in your unit. Residential Living may fill any vacancies after Housing Selection.
• New Resident Assignment:
  • Students will receive 24-hour notice before a new resident moves in during the academic year.
  • This notice does not apply during the summer.
  • New matches are made based on Living Preference Questionnaire compatibility, age, and class year.

Academic Year Room Switch

• After the academic year begins, and when the Room Switch Freeze is not in effect, students can submit a Room Switch application through Hoya Housing.
• Room Switch Freeze Windows
  • Fall Semester:
    • Freeze: First week of August to the first 2-3 weeks of Fall semester.
    • Application deadline: First Monday in November.
  • Spring Semester:
    • Freeze: First Monday in November to the first 2-3 weeks of Spring semester.
    • Application deadline: Last Friday of classes.
