Living Learning Community (LLC) Application Questions

The following are questions asked in the applications for our Living Learning Communities.

Bayit

New Applicant Questions

  1. Why do you want to be a member of Bayit?
  2. What does living Jewishly mean to you?
  3. What areas of Jewish life (tradition, philosophy, history, ritual, etc.) do you find most compelling or want to learn more about?
  4. What is your history of involvement with Jewish life before coming to Georgetown? (Be honest. Students of all levels are welcome to apply).
  5. What do you envision the Bayit community to look like and how can you contribute? What active role will you take to fulfill this vision?
  6. Please describe your comfort level or interest in keeping kosher (Jewish dietary laws). Please be honest, any and all experience/interests welcome.  

Returning Applicant Questions

  1. Why do you wish to return to this community?  How would you make this community better through your engagement/involvement?  Please list three goals for next year?
  2. Considering your experience in Bayit, how would you improve upon Bayit? In what ways would you change or enhance the community in order to achieve your goals listed above?
  3. How will you take on a leadership role as a returning member of this community?
  4. How will you continue to integrate your experiences in the LLC with your academic experiences?

  1. Why do you wish to join the French Floor LLC?
  2. What are three main goals you have for your year on the French Floor?
  3. List the last two French classes you will have completed (or your level of French) by the time you join the French Floor. How do you think your experience will contribute to the French Floor?
  4. What are the essential characteristics of a French Floor resident, in your opinion? How do you embody those characteristics?

Returning Applicant Questions

  1. Why do you wish to return to this community?  How would you make this community better through your engagement/involvement?  
  2. Consider your desired outcomes and achieved outcomes from last year.  What obstacles did you face? How will you plan to overcome them next year? 
  3. Please list three goals for next year. How do you plan to execute these goals?
  4. How will you continue to integrate your experiences in the LLC with your academic experiences?

Muslim Interest Living Community, MILC

New Applicant Questions

  1. Tell us about yourself and why you are interested in being a member of MILC? 
  2. What contributions do you expect to make as a member of the community?  Do you have any programming ideas?
  3. How will you integrate your course work with the experiences you will have as a member of this community?
  4. What would a successful experience look like at the end of the year for you?  What are your hopes/goals for the year?

Returning Applicant Questions

  1. Why do you wish to return to this community?  How would you make this community better through your engagement/involvement?  Please list three goals for next year?
  2. Consider your desired outcomes and achieved outcomes from last year.  What obstacles and successes did you face? What is your plan to make next year different from this year? How will you expand upon what you have done so far this year?  
  3. How will you take on a leadership role as a returning member of this community?
  4. How will you continue to integrate your experiences in the LLC with your academic experiences?

Spanish Floor

  1. What is your level of Spanish proficiency? Have you taken any Spanish courses at Georgetown? If so, which ones? – Short Answer
  2. Why are you interested in living in the Spanish Floor? – Paragraph
  3. How would you contribute to the community? – Paragraph
  4. What would a successful experience look like at the end of the year for you? What are your hopes/goals for the year? – Paragraph
  5. How could your experience in the Spanish Floor contribute to your growth as a student and as a person? – Paragraph

Transfer Floor

  1. You have already described your reasons for transferring to Georgetown in your application for admission, but now that you are admitted, briefly describe those reasons once more. Are your motivations primarily academic, social, geographical, etc? A mix of many of these?
  2. How do your motivations to transfer, which you just described above, align with your interests to join the Transfer LLC?
  3. The Transfer LLC emphasizes a healthy balance between freedom and support; residents are free to make whatever they want of their transfer experience. How do you hope to benefit from involvement in the LLC?
  4. How would the Transfer LLC benefit from your involvement?
  5. Is there anything else you wish the advisors to know about you?
