The purpose of InterHall is to improve residence life through student advocacy and  community development. InterHall achieves this purpose through its Executive Board, General Assembly, and Hall Councils by meeting with administrators, programming events, and collaborating with student groups.

Programming

InterHall hosts a variety of programs every semester for residents campus wide to foster a vibrant community. Past events included movie nights on Copley Lawn, Trivia Night, and apple picking at Homestead Farm. Join us for food, fun, and friends!

Funding

To foster on-campus community, Interhall is committed to funding events that are in line with our mission statement at a rate of up to $5.00 per Georgetown student participant. All funding proposals must be submitted at least two (2) weeks prior to your event in order for the funds to be transferred into student accounts.

Once we have received your proposal, someone will be in touch with you to let you know which InterHall meeting (Tuesdays 8:30pm at Arrupe Multipurpose Room) you are scheduled to present at and remind you to bring copies of your budget for the General Assembly. You will be notified of InterHall’s decision after you present or the day after.

Advocacy

In order to better the on-campus living experiences of all students, InterHall promotes student advocacy focused on improving residence hall living conditions and policies. InterHall works directly with student groups on campus as well as administrators in the Office of Residential Living and Planning & Facilities Management to resolve pressing issues regarding residential life. With the aid of Hall Councils, RAs, and Community Directors, we encourage students to become a source of positive change in their residence halls and find new ways to help turn ours halls into homes.

Each year, Interhall hosts a town hall with staff members and other stakeholders on campus.

Hall Councils

InterHall also coordinates Georgetown’s Hall Councils, which operate in each residence hall to do programming and advocacy on a building-wide scale. Talk to your RA or Community Director if you are interested in joining your Hall Council!

Philanthropy

CAACURH is the Central Atlantic Affiliate of College & University Residence Halls. CAACURH is one of eight regional affiliates with the National Association of College & University Residence Halls, a student-run non-profit corporation which brings together Residence Hall Associations (like InterHall) together from across North America and other parts of the world.

As an affiliate, InterHall attends three leadership conferences each year: the Regional Leadership Conference (occurs every fall), the Regional Business Conference (occurs every spring), and the NACURH Annual Conference (occurs in May). Students are able to connect with student leaders from other campuses, attend sessions to further their leadership development, and represent Georgetown University when voting on legislation, bids, and more in regional and Corporate boardroom.

Our next conference will be Thursday, May 23-Monday, May 27, 2019 at Louisiana State University. Interhall is looking to take 6-8 students to this leadership conference. The interest form will come out in March 2019.
