French Floor Living Learning Community (FFLLC)

The Dorothy M. Betz Memorial French Floor

About French Floor

Named in honor of beloved professor Dorothy M. Betz, the French Floor is a vibrant Living Learning Community dedicated to students passionate about French language and Francophone cultures. Established in 2012, this immersive experience is designed to foster everyday language practice and cultural exploration—both in and beyond the classroom.

Located in Arrupe Hall, the French Floor offers a unique space where students live among peers who are studying or fluent in French. Through shared meals, cultural outings, and faculty-led programs, residents engage deeply with the diversity of the Francophone world.

Whether you’re preparing to study abroad or simply eager to strengthen your French in a supportive setting, this community provides an authentic avant-goût of life in a French-speaking country.

The French Floor is open to all Georgetown upperclass students regardless of race, national origin, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, disability, age, or any other characteristic protected under University policy or applicable law.
