Move-Out Deadlines
- Non-Graduating Students – Must vacate within 24 hours of their last exam or by 10:00 AM on Sunday, May 11, 2025 (whichever comes first).
- Graduating Seniors – Must move out by 10:00 AM on Monday, May 19, 2025.
- Failure to vacate on time may result in financial penalties and fees.
- Abandoned belongings will be removed, and students assume full responsibility for any losses.
Pre-Move-Out Responsibilities
- Remove All Personal Belongings – Items left behind will be donated or disposed of.
- The University assumes no liability for abandoned items.
- University furniture must remain in the unit, fully assembled and in good condition, to avoid damage charges.
- Cleaning Requirements
- Special cleaning fees start at $150 for rooms and $340 for apartments & townhouses.
- If you have a balcony, patio, or backyard, you are responsible for cleaning it. Do not leave University furniture outdoors.
- Wall & Trash Removal
- Remove all tape, nails, tacks, posters, and message boards from walls and doors.
- Dispose of trash and recyclables properly.
- Do not leave rugs, mini-fridges, or personal belongings in hallways, lobbies, or common areas—this results in community fines.
- Bike Removal
- Remove bikes from University bike racks.
- Bikes left behind will be impounded and donated.
- Bunked Beds
- If bunking was required, leave beds as is.
- If optional (Darnall, Copley, New South, Harbin, McCarthy, Kennedy, Reynolds, LXR, Village C), unbunk the beds and leave pegs on one bed.
- Lock Your Space
- Close and lock all doors and windows to prevent damage or theft.
- Students are responsible for any missing furniture or damages found during inspections.
Returning Your Key
- Keys must be returned to Harbin 104 Key Room upon move-out.
- Lost Key Charge – Failure to return your key results in a $200 fee.
- Returning an incorrect key may also result in a $200 charge.
- Verify your key code by calling (202) 687-4593 or visiting Harbin 104 Key Room (8 AM–10 PM, daily).
Do NOT leave your key with:
- Roommates, apartment-mates, or townhouse-mates
- Inside your room
- RAs or Community Directors
- Another student
Mailing Your Key (If Leaving Campus)
- If you take your key home, mail it to Residential Living in a padded envelope by May 19, 2025.
- Attach your Name, Room, & NetID to the package.
- Secure the key to cardboard/cardstock to prevent damage during transit.

Key Charge Appeals
- To appeal a lost key charge, submit your key return receipt to residentialkeys@georgetown.edu.
- Include your Name, NetID, Room Assignment, and a copy of your receipt.
- Final appeal deadline: June 15, 2025.
Room/Apartment/Townhouse Inspections
- A Residential Living team member will inspect all spaces after residents have vacated.
- Any damage or cleaning fees will be deducted from your housing deposit or charged to your Student Account.
- Trash Removal Fee – A $200 per item fee will be charged for any belongings left behind.
- Damage Appeals – Submit through the Hoya Housing portal within 15 days of the charge posting.

Move-Out Drive (2025)
- Donate gently used furniture, clothing, books, non-perishable food, and household goods.
- Collection sites operate from 12 PM – 4 PM at seven locations across campus:
- Darnall | Henle | Arrupe – Darnall Loading Dock
- LXR | Nevils | Alumni Square | Townhouses – N Street
- Kennedy | McCarthy | Reynolds – Kennedy Hall
- Ryan & Hawkins | Village A | Copley | New South | Village C – Ryan & Hawkins Hall
- Donations benefit local charities addressing housing insecurity and sustainability efforts.
Storage & Shipping
- The Corp offers Summer Storage Services for on-campus and off-campus students.
- Visit The Corp website for drop-off/pick-up locations, dates, and pricing.
- Be cautious with third-party vendors – Keep receipts and contact info for any service used.
- USPS & UPS accept packages up to 70 lbs but do not provide pick-up services in residence halls.
Cart Reservations
There are a limited number of vacuums and carts available to residents in the Harbin Key Room to check out at no charge. You will need your GoCard or an ID to check out items.
- Check-out limit: 2 hours issued on a fist-come, first-serve basis
- $200 fine for unreturned or broken carts.
- Carts are issued to on-campus residential students only.
- Carts cannot be passed along to another person.
May Transition & Pre-Session Housing
- Only students with both a spring and summer on-campus housing assignment or those in sponsored programs qualify for May Transition Housing.
- Graduating seniors are automatically sponsored by Residential Living.

Parking & Campus Access
- Georgetown is a pedestrian-friendly campus – No vehicle access near residence halls.
- Parking options:
- Southwest Quad Garage (Canal Road) – Best for New South, Village C, Harbin, Kennedy, McCarthy, Reynolds.
- Leavey Garage (Canal Road) – Best for Arrupe, Copley, Henle, Darnall, University Hotel.
- Lot 9 (Prospect Street) – Best for Village A.
- Alumni Square, Townhouses, Nevils, LXR – Legal street parking only (city jurisdiction).
- Free two-hour parking is available at designated spots. Check the campus parking map for dates and times.
- All drivers must follow posted signs – Residential Living is not responsible for ticketing/towing.
