First-year Application Process

First-year students are guaranteed on-campus housing. In May, first-year students will be emailed, to their Georgetown account, by the Office of Residential Living with instructions on how to complete the housing application process. Students will fill out their housing application within their Hoya Housing account. The application includes signing a Housing Occupancy Agreement, filling out a Living Preference Questionnaire, listing emergency contact information, and searching for/selecting a roommate with our CHARMS roommate process.

Beginning May 7, incoming first-year students, who have paid their admission deposit, will be sent to their Georgetown email account a "Welcome to On-Campus Housing at Georgetown" email from the Office of Residential Living. This email will inform you of the next steps to apply for on-campus housing, so look out for that email!

IMPORTANT APPLICATION DATES:

First-year Housing Application opens: 9 AM Monday, May 7

At this time, students will complete the Living Preference Questionnaire, Emergency Contact Information, Housing Occupancy Agreement and creat a Roommate Profile. Student may also apply to be in one of six Living Learning Communities

  • Applications for First-year LLC close: NOON, Tuesday, May 29, 2018
  • Medical Accommodation Requests are due by: 5 PM, Friday, June 22, 2018
  • Residence Exemption Requests are due by: NOON, Wednesday, June 6, 2018

CHARMS opens: 9 AM, Tuesday, June 12, 2018

Students may use the CHARMS portal to search and message potential roommates. If you find a roommate you want to live with you can request and confirm on another.

CHARMS closes: NOON, Friday, June 29, 2018. 

After June 29, all first-year students who have submitted an 18-19 Housing Application will be randomly assigned to one of the first-year buildings on campus.

All students, will receive their housing assignment, roommate confirmation and move-in instructions the first week of August; this includes students who are accepted into an LLC and students with specific medical accommodation housing.

Housing Assignment Specifics

  • New first-year students cannot request a specific residence hall or room and all assignments are random
  • IMPORTANT: Students who require a private bath due to religious need or an extra-long bed due to height must submit this in writing to newstudenthousing@georgetown.edu. Request must be submitted in writing before June 29, 2018. 
  • Single rooms are not available to freshmen or sophomore students
  • Students requiring medical accommodations should apply through the Academic Resource Center
  • New first year students are not assigned to apartments or with upperclass roommates, unless the student elects to live in a Living Learning Community housed in an upperclass hall
  • Non-Discrimination Statement — We provide housing to undergraduate students on a non-discrimination basis

 

Transfer Student Application Process

Transfer students are guaranteed on-campus housing. In June, transfer students will be emailed, to their Georgetown account, by the Office of Residential Living with instructions on how to complete the housing application process. Students will fill out their housing application within their Hoya Housing account. The application includes signing a Housing Occupancy Agreement, filling out a Living Preference Questionnaire.

This email will inform you of the next steps to apply for on-campus housing, so look out for that email!
