McCarthy Hall is part of a three-building residential complex known as the Southwest Quad. It shares a first floor with Kennedy and Reynolds Halls.
The Southwest Quad encompasses Leo O’Donovan Dining Hall, an outdoor courtyard, and Hoya Snaxa – a student-run convenience store. Every floor has a full kitchen inside of a large community room where many residents gather to share meals, catch their favorite TV show, or study as a group.

Residents interested in a Fridge-Microwave combo can rent one from Breez. This is the only option for students interested in having a microwave in their on campus housing space, as part of the campus approved MicroFridge combo unit.

Community Directors are professional live-in staff members employed by the University. These professionals work directly with students, Residential Ministers, Faculty-in-Residence and campus partners to create a formative living learning environment for our students. Community Directors oversee the Resident Assistant staff within their residential community and develop and implement community educational plans.
Resident Assistants
Resident Assistants (RAs) are full-time undergraduate students who live on campus and work with the Office of Residential Education to create a vibrant and supportive community.
RAs are key in fostering a welcoming environment, organizing engaging programs, and helping students connect with one another. They enforce residential policies, mediate conflicts, and provide guidance on academic or personal matters. Trained to handle various situations, RAs are prepared to respond quickly and effectively to emergencies that may arise, ensuring the safety of all residents. RAs are essential in enhancing the student experience and creating a positive living environment.
Security
Access doors to residential buildings are secured, and students must use their GOCard for building access. Each room has its own door with a lock that residents are encouraged to secure at all times.
